A fire in a storage warehouse on the eastern edge of town was declared out at twenty past six this morning. Four crews worked through the night, and the ladder was kept on the roof line until the last of the smoke stopped rising.
Nobody was hurt. The building was empty at the time and the two firms that rent space in it say they have lost stock but no records. The cause is not yet known; the fire service will not be drawn on it before its own inspection is finished.
