The main reading room opens again on Monday
Two hundred and forty seats, a repaired roof, and the long tables back where they were.
The library reopens its main reading room on Monday morning, fourteen months after the roof above it began letting water through. Two hundred and forty seats are back in use, and the long tables have been returned to the arrangement readers knew before the work started.
Opening hours are unchanged: eight in the morning until eight at night, and until two on Saturdays. The librarian says the reference desk will be staffed all day for the first fortnight, because half the regular readers have not been inside the room for over a year.
